To firmly establish a robust safety‑production defense within the jurisdiction, effectively prevent and mitigate fire‑safety and workplace‑safety risks at small and micro enterprises, and ensure that enterprises fully assume their principal responsibilities, the Donghe Police Station of the Xincheng District Public Security Bureau recently dispatched police officers and auxiliary police to conduct a special inspection on production safety and fire safety at an individual timber processing plant in Shaliang Village.

The wood-processing industry is a high-risk, flammable sector, characterized by significant safety hazards such as large accumulations of timber, substantial dust levels, concentrated use of open flames and electricity, and heavy firefighting demands. During inspections, officers and auxiliary police from the Donghe Police Station conducted thorough, meticulous checks of key areas, including production workshops, timber storage zones, finished and semi-finished goods warehouses, and electrical distribution control rooms.

Public security and auxiliary police officers conducted a step-by-step inspection to verify that the factory’s fire-fighting equipment is in good working order and meets safety standards, that fire extinguishers have undergone their required annual inspections, and that fire water supplies are functioning properly. They also confirmed that emergency exits and evacuation routes remain unobstructed, ensuring no debris or lumber is piled up to block passageways. In addition, they focused on checking whether electrical wiring for workshop machinery complies with regulations, identifying any unauthorized or haphazard connections, signs of aging or exposed wires, or instances of overloading. Finally, they reviewed daily maintenance and repair records for machinery and equipment, as well as the completeness of the factory’s safety‑inspection logs.

In response to prominent fire hazards—such as the accumulation of wood-processing dust, haphazard stacking of lumber, and cluttered workshop conditions—police officers and auxiliary police personnel visited the processing plant on-site, identified these issues, and provided a detailed briefing on key safety‑management practices for wood‑processing enterprises, along with cautionary case studies of past fire incidents. They clearly outlined the safety risks associated with open‑air stockpiling, unauthorized electrical use, and inadequate fire‑protection equipment, as well as the corresponding legal liabilities, and urged the facility’s management to implement immediate corrective measures and complete all required rectifications within a specified timeframe.

Meanwhile, police officers and auxiliary police officers have urged enterprise managers to strengthen their safety awareness, strictly fulfill their primary responsibility for workplace safety, conduct regular self-inspections and rectifications within the premises, routinely clear accumulated wood shavings, properly segregate and stack lumber by category, regularly inspect electrical systems and fire‑fighting equipment, and strictly prohibit unauthorized operations and unsafe use of fire and electricity, thereby preventing fires, structural collapses, mechanical injuries, and other safety incidents.

The Donghe Police Station will continue to intensify safety inspections of small and micro enterprises and processing plants at the village level within its jurisdiction, conduct routine hazard identification and remediation, and closely monitor risks and vulnerabilities in key industries and priority areas. By ensuring that every identified issue is promptly addressed, the station aims to eliminate safety hazards at their source and maintain a sustained, stable, and improving safety‑production environment throughout the area.
